When?
Tomorrow in Warsaw, 22nd of September 2016, is the last day of the European Mobility Week. A lot of cities in Europe participated in this program including some Polish cities. Tomorrow, you will enjoy Free Public Transportation in Warsaw, according to the official website of the Public transportation (ZTM) you will not need on this day to buy or validate a ticket. The gates on the metro station will remain open, and the ticket machines will not be working on this day.
Why?
The city is encouraging people to leave the car in their houses with the idea of having less pollution on the capital. It is a great initiative. This campaign is the perfect opportunity to present mobility alternatives to all the citizens in Warsaw. Also, to explain the challenges that the cities and towns in Europe are facing in order to induce behavioural change and make progress towards creating a more sustainable transport strategy.
So remember, if a ticket-revisor on Thursday is asking you for a valid ticket, well maybe he will be trying to cheat you.
Some other cities in Poland like: Lodz, Wroclaw and Krakow are also participating in this program, but you must check the information on the local transportation system to see if the tickets will also be free on this day.
